Jump and Wave to The Soca Roundup Volume 2

My last roundup featured artists from T&T since tons of new music was coming out for Carnival 2012. Now that it’s over I wanted to showcase some of the other islands’ releases from 2011/2012 season!

Island music has a life of it’s own. It’s culture, it’s power, it’s love, it’s the soul of the Caribbean.

My last roundup featured artists from T&T since tons of new music was coming out for Carnival. Now that it’s over I wanted to showcase some of the other islands’ and artists releases from 2011/2012.

Since T&T is undoubtedly the land of soca sometimes the other islands’ artists are not as recognized. However, that definitely doesn’t affect the quality of music being produced daily. This time the roundup includes seasoned artists such as Alison Hinds, Skinny Fabulous, Tallpree and Mr. “One More Night” Busy Signal. A few of the featured artists are representing hard for the nature isle of Dominica including Marsha, Johnny D and Ms.Diamond. I definitely had to include “Deja Buile” from Dominican group, NCore, to represent for all the Bouyon fans out there!

So, without further delay, this is my ”sounding nice” list in no particular order whatsoever.

Marsha – I Like It

NCore – Deja Buile (Bouyon)

Alison Hinds – Brace & Wine (Go Go Riddim)

Busy Signal – Caribbean Jabb

Tallpree – Jab All Over (Jus Jab)

Ms. Diamond – Bring It Come

Johnny D Feat. Rohtee – Rum and Chix

Problem Child Feat. Tallpree – Ah Think Ah Drunk

We Ravin’- by Skinny Fabolous & Trevor Off Key (Karnival Konnek Riddim)

Volume International Band – Shut Up & Wuk Up

This is just a taste of some of the music that was released during the late 2011 and early 2012 carnival season. There will undoubtedly be tons of new tracks coming soon with Crop Over, Notting Hill, Miami and other carnival celebrations just around the corner!

With the upcoming Carnival season in both the islands of Dominica and Trinidad, I figure the best way to kick this off would be to feature a few of the best soca tracks from Trinidad for the season. Let me know what you think and big up to all the artists coming hard this year!

Look out for the next music roundup post for some latest releases for 2012 from Dominica and other islands.
